Love's Brother is not an Italian Movie per se. Jan Sardi is Australian. In this movie movie that he wrote and directed he tells us the story of Italian immigrants to Australia.
Like many movies in the genre, this one is also about identity, intergration and love. Sardi does a fair job directing but let uneven performace of the actor on the (un)finished product. The story is light and does not get in the way. 5 minutes in the movie you guess the ending but it does not ruin the movie.
The ending is a bit rushed.
Now there are several reason why I strongly recommend this movie.
The Photography is magical Andrew Lesnie (Babe / Lord of the rings) realy brings Italy to Australia. You feel the heat, the ambiance of the cafe ...
A very good bunch of Actors to name a few the stunning Adam Garcia and Amelia Warner (notwithstanding very bad scene or two)
I enjoyed the fresco painter's character and Father Alfredo (Barry Otto).
